Drawing in oil pastel

A reinterpretation of a drawing made from observation. I think that my work is progressing with scale.

Drawing is a fundamental part of all Fine Art practice and it is usually a starting point. I wanted to strip my work back and concentrate on drawing.

I intend on using drawing in my FMP, I just think that my work needs direction and a strong theme which I will propose in my pitch.

Drawings to re-work

Development from the drawings in my sketchbook using Willow charcoal. These drawings are working progress. I have decided that I'm going to re-work these drawings repeatedly because most of my drawings have been immediate. I found that I prefer to draw in large- scale because it allows me to experiment in a different way.

Frank Auerbach
Self-Portrait
Pencil and Charcoal 1994-2001

The artist works and reworks his paintings over long periods and his drawings evolve from repeated revision. This drawing is one of five self-portaits as self-portraits are a rare aspect of Auerbach's work

Self-Portrait

A1 self-portrait. I think this is one of my strong pieces yet because its showing my next step - leading up in scale. It also reflects me and the process I'm going through. In the drawing I'm looking directly at the viewer and I am above the eyeline because I drew myself standing with a mirror below me.
